  After several years of debating timing, I finally decided to proceed with cataract surgery in June. After thorough discussion with Dr. Marcovitch, I opted to also correct my astigmatism, which was only bad in one eye. In fact, I started out thinking I would wait to correct the other eye because I did not think the vision was bad enough. However, when I opened my eyes after surgery, there was such a dramatic difference in the fist eye that I immediately asked them to work me into the schedule ASAP for the second. Two weeks later, both eyes were serving me so well that I will not be using glasses anymore. The adjustment to distance in dominant eye and mid vision/reading in the other has required some patience on my part as my brain retrains, but as time passes, it is clear that I was advised and chose correctly. Every staff there has been friendly, supportive and caring. And the actual surgery was not scary at all at any time. I am very picky about my vision -- the kind of person who even slept in my glasses so I could see well when I opened my eyes upon waking. It is really exciting to be able to see without glasses.
